This watch, you see, it’s somethin’ else. They call it the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8. Fancy name, right? It’s all black, like the dark side of the moon. And this one, you can only get it at them specialty stores. Not just any store, mind you.
My grandbaby was tellin’ me all about it. Says it’s got somethin’ to do with them astronauts that went to the moon in, what was it, 1968? Apollo 8, that’s it. First folks to see the other side of the moon. Imagine that! We just see the one side all the time.
OMEGA Speedmaster
This OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8, it’s a big deal, I guess. Lots of folks talkin’ about it. They say it’s made of this… ceramic stuff. Sounds hard. Probably don’t break easy. And this thing, it looks like the moon, with the little holes, you see, like the craters on moon surface. And got a picture of a rocket on it. One of them Saturn V rockets. My grandkid knows all about those rockets.
This watch, it ain’t cheap, that’s for sure. But I reckon it’s worth it, for them that like that sort of thing. You gotta go to them specialty stores, though. Can’t just find it anywhere. It is black, like the other side of the moon, they call the dark side of the moon. This is special, you know. Only for them specialty stores, I told you that already, right?
Dark Side of the Moon
Now, why they call it the “Dark Side of the Moon”, I don’t rightly know. Maybe ’cause it’s all black? Or maybe because that side of the moon is always dark from us. I think this is a good name. Easy to remember. Like, when you talk about this watch, you just say, “Oh, the Dark Side of the Moon one.” And they will know what you mean.
This here OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8, it’s a real good-lookin’ watch, even for an old lady like me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen somethin’ like it. And it’s got all these little numbers and lines on it. Must be important for somethin’. Maybe tellin’ the time in space? Who knows.

My grandbaby, he showed me pictures on that computer thing. You know, the one with all the little letters, you can find all kinds of things on it. I don’t know how to find anything, but my grandkid can find everything. He found all about this watch. I don’t understand half of what he says, with all them numbers and big words. He said this watch is popular, many people want to buy.

So, this Apollo 8 watch, it’s a big thing, especially for them that like space and moons and rockets. And watches, of course. You gotta like watches to wear one of these. It’s a big one, too. Not one of them little dainty things.
This here watch, it’s got a lot of history, I guess. ‘Cause of that Apollo 8 mission. They were real brave, them astronauts. Goin’ up there in that rocket, to the moon! I wouldn’t do it. Too scary for me. But I guess this watch is a way to remember them.
If you want one of these OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watches, you better get on down to them specialty stores. They might run out! Then you’ll be sorry. I heard they only made so many. I think many people want this. Because it is special, only in specialty stores, you know? Like I said, you cannot find it everywhere.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I’m gonna buy one. But it sure is somethin’ to look at. And think about. All them folks, goin’ to the moon. And this watch, remindin’ us of them. This watch is good, I think. This OMEGA Speedmaster is good. Many people will like it.
