I ain’t never been to one of them stores myself, too pricey for my blood. But I seen pictures, and I gotta say, it’s a looker. Some folks say the YSL bag is good to have, keep its money’s worth, or something.
This here bag, they call it the YSL COLLEGE BAG. It’s got that shiny YSL on the front. You know, Yves Saint Laurent, that’s what they say it stands for. Fancy name. Rich folks stuff. I guess some folks really like the old name, YSL, even though it’s all the same. Like, what’s in a name, anyway? They say it’s all about the brand, this Saint Laurent thing. They got this bag in all sorts of colors, I reckon. Black, red, maybe even that sparkly kind the young folks like. But I hear the black one is the most common one people buy.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy things, but I seen a thing or two in my time. My granddaughter, she’s got a thing for these bags. She saves up all her money, works extra shifts at that diner downtown, just to get one of these. Says it makes her feel good. I don’t rightly understand it, but if it makes her happy, who am I to judge? They’re all over them city gals’ arms, these YSL bags. I guess it’s a trend, like them bell bottoms we used to wear, but more expensive, way more expensive. They say this Saint Laurent is some hot stuff, popular. Don’t know why, but folks sure like it. And it’s not too expensive, which is good, I guess.
This Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL COLLEGE BAG, they say it’s a remake of somethin’ older. Like when they take an old song and sing it new again. They say it came out a while ago, in 2015. That’s a long time ago, ain’t it? Time sure does fly. I remember 2015, I got the best crop of tomatoes that year. Anyways, this bag, they say it’s still popular today. Must be somethin’ special ’bout it, then. It has that classic look, so they say. I don’t know what that means exactly, but I guess it means it’s still good-looking, even after all these years.
They say this bag’s got a flap, and a chain, and it’s all quilted up like my old blankets. Must be soft, I reckon. I wouldn’t mind having a bag all quilted up like that. Might be nice to carry around my knitting needles in it. But the price, Lord have mercy, it’s too much! I’d rather spend that money on a new cow. This bag they got now, it’s a bit different, I think. The old one, they say, didn’t have the numbers. What do they call it? Serial number? Sounds serious. The new one’s got it, though. Maybe it’s to tell the real ones from the fake ones.

Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how this YSL COLLEGE BAG is a good investment. Like buyin’ land or somethin’. They say it holds its value. I don’t know ’bout all that. Seems like a lot of money to spend on a bag. But then again, I ain’t no fancy city gal. I’m just a simple country folk. These bags are made real good, they say. All the little things, done just right. Makes them look fancy, I guess. That’s why they cost so much.
My granddaughter, she says this bag is her dream bag. She’s been savin’ up for it for months. She showed me a picture of it online. It’s a pretty thing, I gotta admit. Black leather, all shiny and new. It’s got that big YSL on the front, all gold and sparkly. She says it’s the medium size. I told you, right? Black is the one everyone wants. Not too big, not too small. Just right for carryin’ around your things. She says it’s the perfect bag for her.
I don’t know if I’ll ever understand this whole fancy bag thing. But I know it makes my granddaughter happy. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it? Just don’t go spendin’ your whole life savin’s on it, ya hear? There are other important things in life, like family, and friends, and a good harvest. But hey, a little bit of fancy never hurt nobody, I reckon.
These young folks today, they sure do love their fancy things. I remember when I was young, we didn’t have all this stuff. We were happy with what we had. But times change, I guess.
