Hey everyone, I’m back again with another project. This time I got it into my head to remake the PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. Yeah, the one that’s all over the place right now. I saw it, loved it, but my wallet didn’t. So I thought, “Why not make it myself?”

I started by hunting down some materials. Finding the right fabric was a pain. I wanted that Re-Nylon look, you know, that technical, slightly shiny stuff. I ended up getting some black nylon fabric from a local store. It wasn’t exactly Re-Nylon, but it was pretty darn close. And the price was way better!

Then came the chain. The original bag has this chunky gold chain, which, let’s be honest, is a big part of its charm. I searched everywhere for something similar. Finally, I found a decent-looking gold chain in a craft store. It wasn’t perfect, but it would do the trick.

Next, I needed to figure out the pattern. Since I didn’t have the actual bag, I spent hours staring at pictures online. I sketched out a rough design on paper, trying to get the dimensions and the overall shape right. It was a lot of trial and error, let me tell you.

  • Cut the nylon fabric according to my makeshift pattern.
  • Stitch the pieces together. This was the hardest part. I wanted that quilted, padded look like the original, so I tried to top-stitch the nylon with a similar design. It definitely tested my sewing skills, which, to be honest, are not that great.
  • Attach the chain. This was easier said than done. I had to figure out how to secure it to the bag properly so it wouldn’t just fall off. I used some small metal rings and a lot of patience.
  • Add a zipper. No bag is complete without a zipper, right? I managed to sew one in, although it’s a little wonky.

After several days of work, the bag was finally finished! It’s not an exact replica, of course, but it has that same vibe. The nylon is a bit different, the chain is not as fancy, and my stitching is far from perfect. But hey, I made it myself! It’s got that handmade charm to it.

Honestly, I’m pretty darn proud of how it turned out! It’s a fun little bag, and it definitely satisfies my craving for the PRADA original, at least for now. Plus, I learned a lot in the process. Maybe next time I’ll try to make an even better version!

Overall

This project was a fun challenge. It’s not perfect, but it shows that you can recreate designer looks without spending a fortune. You just need some creativity, patience, and a willingness to make a few mistakes along the way. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go show off my new bag!
