Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now. It’s a classic, you know? But I wanted to put my own spin on it, make it a little more “me.” So, I finally took the plunge and decided to do it!
First things first, I had to get my hands on the original bag. I mean you can get it online at their official website but you know it’s pretty expensive for me. So I went to those specialty stores, you know, the ones that sell like-new designer stuff. Found one in decent shape, and it was a bit of a splurge, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right? It even comes with the original little triangle logo thing, so you know it’s legit.
Next up was figuring out what I wanted to change. This bag is known for its Saffiano leather, which is super durable and all, but I wanted something a little more… fun. I saw these special edition versions they did with all sorts of crazy colors and patterns, and I thought, “That’s it!”
Disassembling and Planning
Taking the bag apart was a bit nerve-wracking. I mean, it’s a PRADA! But I went slow, made sure I labeled everything, and took a ton of pictures. I used this little seam ripper thing and carefully took out all the stitching.

Choosing the New Look

Putting It Back Together
This was the tricky part. I had to cut the new fabric using the original pieces as a pattern, sew it all together, and then put the whole bag back together. I won’t lie, there were a few mess-ups along the way. But I just kept at it, seam-ripping and re-sewing until it looked right.

- Sewed the new panels together, mirroring the original construction.
- Reattached the handles and added the new hardware.
The Final Result
And, you know what? It turned out amazing! It’s still the same classic Galleria shape, but with this totally unique and colorful twist. It’s definitely a conversation starter, and I love that I made it my own.
It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I learned so much about how these bags are made, and now I have a one-of-a-kind PRADA that’s perfect for me! I think it’s easy to wipe down and will be far less scratches on it.
