Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001 for a while now. You know, the rose gold one with the diamonds? It’s a beauty, but man, that price tag! So, I started thinking, why not try to remake it? Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out.
First, I spent hours looking at pictures online. I zoomed in on every detail, every curve, every little diamond. I needed to understand what I was getting myself into.
Then, I started thinking about the materials. Obviously, I wasn’t going to use real rose gold or diamonds. I found some decent alternatives though. A good stainless steel watch case that was rose gold plated gave a good look. And some cubic zirconia that was a good enough imitation of diamonds.

- I got some strong adhesive, because, you know, diamonds gotta stay put.
When everything arrived, the real fun began. I carefully removed the original watch face and replaced it with the plain one. Then, using those tiny tools and a magnifying glass I had bought, I started setting the cubic zirconia. It was tedious work, let me tell you! Each stone had to be placed just right.
After what felt like forever, I was finally done. I stepped back to admire my work, and you know what? It didn’t look half bad! Sure, it wasn’t a real Patek Philippe, but it captured the essence of the Gondolo. And I made it myself!

People want to ask about it, it is shiny. I wear it out, and I always get compliments. And the best part? I tell people I made it. Their reactions are priceless.
This whole experience taught me that it is the choices you make. It reminded me of those economics classes I thought I would never use the knowledge from. It is the choices you make that decide things. When you buy something you choose to have that item produced. It’s like when you deposit your money into a bank or other financial thing, that money then can go out to help borrowers. It is a very market economy thing, really.
