Alright, folks, let’s talk about this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. A few weeks ago, I decided to remake the small version, and boy, was it a journey!
First off, I went online and looked everywhere to find what kind of materials they used. This “Saffiano” leather, it’s not your everyday leather. They do something special to it, treat it with some stuff to make it tougher, you know? And shiny. Gives it that special look. I had to dig deep to find this stuff.
Sourcing the Materials
- Leather: I started searching for “Saffiano” leather. It’s real calfskin, but they treat it to make it tougher and water-resistant. Plus, it has this cool cross-hatch pattern. I managed to find a supplier who had some decent quality stuff, but it wasn’t cheap, let me tell you.
- Lining: I found some fabric for the inside. It had to be soft but strong, so it wouldn’t just fall apart after a few uses.
- Hardware: This was a bit tricky. I needed zippers, buckles, and that little Prada logo. I scoured online stores and finally got what I needed. It wasn’t easy finding ones that looked just like the real deal.
Cutting and Sewing
Once I had all the materials, I got to work. I measured the original bag and started cutting the leather. This part took forever, had to be precise, you know? Then came the sewing. I used my old sewing machine, and let me tell you, this Saffiano leather is tough to sew! Broke a couple of needles, but I pushed through. The lining, that was easier. Just had to make sure it fit right inside the leather pieces.
Putting It All Together
After sewing all the pieces, I started putting the bag together. I attached the zippers and the lining. It’s like a puzzle, everything has to fit just right. Then I added the buckles and the handles. This part was satisfying, seeing it all come together.
The Final Touch

Was It Worth It?
Now, was this whole project worth it? Well, it was a lot of work, took a good chunk of time, and cost a pretty penny for the materials. But I learned a lot about bag making, and I got a bag that looks like the real deal for way less. Plus, I got the satisfaction of making it myself. So, yeah, I’d say it was worth it. Would I do it again? Maybe. It’s a lot of work, but hey, it’s a nice challenge!
