Okay, so I went to Dubai. Why? Well, they were opening up this crazy big Rolex store, like the most extra one ever, for their used watches. It’s run by the Seddiqi family, who are apparently a big deal over there.
I was walking around, just taking it all in, you know? I saw this Root Beer GMT-Master II and I just had to try and copy it. I mean, who wouldn’t, right? It’s a classic!
- First, I spent like a whole day just looking at pictures of this watch online. I wanted to get every little detail right.
- Then I started messing around with some tools I have at home. I tried to copy that special bezel color.
- I used a basic tool to imitate the color of the original watch.
- It took a bunch of tries. Seriously, I probably mixed like a hundred different colors.
- Finally, I got something that looked pretty close. I was pretty stoked, not gonna lie.
After getting the color right, I started working on the rest of the watch. I used other tools I had. This part was kind of a blur, to be honest. Lots of trial and error, trying different things until it looked right. I found an old watch and used that as my base. I took it apart and put it back together, trying to make it look like the Rolex. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough for me.
End Result
It definitely wasn’t easy. And no, it doesn’t look exactly like the real Root Beer GMT-Master II. But hey, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try to make another one sometime, who knows? It’s all about having fun and pushing myself, right?
