Alright, so I wanted to try my hand at remaking that fancy Patek Philippe watch, the Calatrava 6119G-001. I saw it in the official store, all shiny and whatnot. Costs a fortune, that’s for sure. But I thought, why not give it a shot? Make my own version, you know?
First thing I did was look it up. Got all the details I could find. This watch, it’s all white gold. They call it the 6119G-001 Calatrava, fancy name, right? Sounds like some secret code. Anyways, it’s 39mm wide and about 8.08mm thick. Pretty sleek, if you ask me.
Then, I got to work. I started with the case. I read somewhere that the real deal has a hallmark on the back. “750” for 18k gold, “950” for platinum. This one’s supposed to be white gold, so I made sure to get that detail right. It’s all about the little things, you know?
Getting the Materials
- White Gold: Got some white gold, not the real deal, obviously, but something that looked close enough.
- Tools: Gathered all my tools. Nothing too fancy, just the basics.
- Reference: Kept a picture of the real Calatrava 6119G-001 nearby. Helped a lot.
I started shaping the case. It took a while, had to be real careful. Measured it out, 39mm across, just like the original. Polished it up real nice. Took my time with it, didn’t want to rush and mess it up.
Next, I worked on the dial. I wanted to remake the white color, but also the details. That’s the tricky part, getting all those little details just right. And the hands, had to make those too. Small, delicate, but had to be sturdy, you know? I spent hours just getting them to look right.
Assembly Time
Putting it all together was another challenge. Had to be real precise. One wrong move and it’s all messed up. But I managed. Got the dial in, the hands, everything. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
I even tried to remake that “750” hallmark on the back, just for kicks. Not that anyone’s gonna see it, but it felt right to add it. Makes it feel more authentic, even if it’s just a remake.
So, there you have it. My version of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. It’s not the real deal, cost me way less, that’s for sure. But it’s something I made with my own two hands, and that’s pretty cool. If you don’t have the cash for the real thing, maybe try making your own. It’s a fun project, keeps you busy, and you get a nice-looking watch out of it.
Would I wear it around? Sure, why not. It’s not like I’m trying to fool anyone. It’s just a little something I did for fun. And hey, it tells the time, right? That’s all that matters in the end.
