Alright, so I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 2000 Bag online, and I was like, “I gotta have it!” But the price tag? Ouch. So, what’s a girl to do? Try to remake it herself, of course! This is my journey to recreate the iconic bag without breaking the bank.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a good base. I scoured some online stores, but I couldn’t find a bag that I was satisfied with. Then I went to a couple of thrift stores and found a nylon shoulder bag that was pretty close to the right shape and size. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point. I only paid like 10 bucks. What a steal!
The Makeover
Next up, the details. The PRADA bag has that signature triangular logo, and I wanted to get that right. I searched online and found someone selling replica logo plates, so I ordered one of those. While waiting, I started working on the zipper. The original has a chunky silver zipper, but mine had a flimsy black one. I bought a silver zipper and a zipper puller online. I carefully removed the old one with a seam ripper and sewed the new one in. It was tougher than I thought, but I managed to do it!
Adding the Bling
The logo plate arrived a few days later, and it looked great! It was time to attach it to the bag. This was probably the trickiest part. I had to punch some small holes in the bag, and then I used some tiny screws to secure the plate. I took my time with this because I didn’t want to mess it up. Finally, I added a silver keychain to make it look more like the original.
The Final Result
And there you have it! My very own “PRADA” Re-Edition 2000 Bag! Okay, it’s not the real deal, but it looks pretty darn close, and I made it myself. I was so excited! I used it the next day. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project, and I saved a ton of money. Plus, I learned a few new things along the way. Who knows, maybe I’ll try to remake another designer bag next time!
