Alright, so the other day I got this itch to try and make a PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. I mean, I’ve always dug Prada’s stuff, and this bag? It’s a total classic. Super classy, you know? And I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It’s not like I can just drop that kind of cash on a whim, right?
So, I started by looking up a bunch of pictures online, you know, trying to get a good feel for it. Then, I sketched out a rough plan, trying to figure out the size and all the different parts. It is not a easy one, man, you know?
Next, I went to a local leather shop. I’m no expert, but I picked out some black leather that felt pretty sturdy, kind of like the Saffiano stuff Prada uses. It was not easy, many types of leather, man, I mean many. I also got some gold-colored hardware, ’cause that’s what I saw on most of the pictures. It is the most difficult part, I think. I spent almost the whole day in the shop.
- Cutting the leather was a pain. I used a box cutter and a ruler, but it was still tricky to get all the pieces the right size.
- Then came the sewing. Man, I thought I was getting good at using the sewing machine, but this was a whole other level.
- I tried to follow the pattern I had sketched, but there were definitely some wonky stitches.
- The hardest part was probably attaching the hardware. I didn’t have any fancy tools, so I just used some pliers and a lot of elbow grease.
It took me a few days, working on it here and there. Honestly, it was way harder than I thought it would be.
But, you know what? I actually finished it! It’s definitely not perfect. It’s got some rough edges, and it’s not as polished as the real deal, you know. But I made it with my own two hands, and that’s pretty cool, right? My wife is not very into it, you know what I mean? But my daughter said she likes it. I love my little girl.
My Honest Thoughts
It’s not an exact copy, but I don’t care. I learned a lot, I had some fun, and I got a new bag out of it. Plus, I saved a ton of money! Would I do it again? Maybe. I mean, It was really tiring, you know. But I might try making a different bag next time, maybe something a little simpler. And, you know, I have many other things to do, like I have to pick my daughter from school. So, I have to go. Bye-bye.
